Slipknot had been teasing a new album since early last year, and in November the first new single ‘The Chapeltown Rag‘ arrived, but no new info about the album was announced. Until this moment, Slipknot have just unveiled a new track, ‘The Dying Song (Time To Sing)‘. We also got the album title and a release date. Slipknot’s seventh studio album, ‘The End, So Far‘, will be released on September 30th via Roadrunner Records!

Why should “The Dying Song” be your song? More than 25 years on or off, the guys from Iowa still know how to go berserk. Although the new song is much more catchy and melodic than the previous single, they still deliver the smash you’d expect from them, while constantly experimenting with their sound, like the guitar segment before the first chorus or the surprisingly melodic yet grotesque intro. (By the way, the band has said that the new album will be very experimental, much like their third album.) The Dying Song doesn’t invent the Spanish wax and won’t be the most perfect jewel in their discography, but it absolutely delivers the obligatory Slipknot quality. Everyone has their own time to shine, Jay continues to be great on drums, Sid delivers the weird noises, and Corey still sounds amazingly raw and pissed off (I could go on and on, but there are nine of them :D) If you like Slipknot then this is an absolute must listen! An excellent teaser for the fast approaching big album!
