Why should you give “Elmerül” a chance? The song from the band’s third album, Partért kiáltó, which was released on 21.01.2022, is as hypnotic as the endless wormhole in the video. Unlike their previous two albums, this time we can hear the formation not in English but finally in Hungarian. The song is the perfect introduction to the new album, it presents the concept of the album to the maximum, which key motif is the search for self, the connection to something universal. Through the lyrics we dive deep into the depths of the soul, with rhythmic, shaman-like beats providing the basis. The drum and guitar playing in the song moves away from the indie boundaries and goes more towards the post-rock genre, which is unique in its own right in the Hungarian music scene, especially when combined with Hungarian lyrics. Let us immerse into ourselves with Platon Karataev!
Genre: Indie
Band: Platon Karataev (HUN)
Song: Elmerül
Album: Partért kiáltó (2022)
Lyrics:
mit találsz a szavakon túl?
hol nyelvharang már nem kondul
nem jelöl mit a hangalak
a pusztában hagytalak
mit találsz a szavakon túl?
hol nyelvharang már nem kondul
a lélek önmagába les
a végtelen dadogni kezd
mit találsz a szavakon túl?
hol nyelvharang már nem kondul
a válasz torkomban rezdül
a káosz mélyén rend ül
követ kötök köré,
az elme elmerül
nem beszélem nyelved,
de beszélek emberül
követ kötök köré,
az elme elmerül
most szembenézek azzal,
mit találok legbelül
követ kötök köré,
az elme elmerül
nem beszélem nyelved,
de beszélek emberül
követ kötök köré,
az elme elmerül
most szembenézek azzal,
mit találok legbelül
kérdeznem nem kell
egy vagyok a felelettel
kérdeznem nem kell
egy vagyok a felelettel
kérdeznem nem kell
egy vagyok a felelettel
kérdeznem nem kell
egy vagyok a felelettel
What should you know about Platon Karataev? Platon Karataev is one of the great sparks of the Hungarian music scene. Formed in 2016, the band has always been outstanding in its style, creating music of international quality from the very beginning. Their album For Her has become a classic indie album with a strong Mumford and Sons influence, however, there has been a significant shift towards their own direction, with Atoms, which was released in 2020. The sound of their second album is much more sophisticated, and they have begun to connect with the spiritual and intellectual world, which they developed to perfection with their third album, Partért kiáltó. The band creates music that is highly intelligent, meaningful and emotional, with lyrics and instrumentation that carry weight, a work of poetic quality. It is a welcoming news that the release of the new album is accompanied by the publication of a book featuring the lyrics, produced by Prae and recommended by Miklós H. Vecsei.
