Why should you give „Timebomb” a chance? Founded in 2005, the scrantonian Motionless In White gained huge popularity since their first album which was released in 2010. They worthy of it because they always evolve album after album, having numerous hit songs. Regarding their style it’s quite colorful, from metalcore to goth metal, featuring industrial and nu metal also, they have a wide lineup. The members were born in the 90s so it isn’t surprising that they take inspiration from Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails or Rammstein. Their last album was released in 2019 and since then during their pandemic they’ve kept working. They made adaptation for ’Somebody Told Me’ (The Killers), celebrating their first record’s 10th anniversary. They released ’To The Grave’ which evoked their first album’s atmosphere. Also some of their other tracks had been given different adaptations. Finally they released their latest single which closes this experimental phase, opening the way for their upcoming 6th album.
Timebomb is a proper Motionless hit song, filled with everything we love the band for. Right from the beginning we start with a quite angry verse, which gets quiter as we progress to the chorus, handing over its place for the pre-chorus, in which for everyones pleasure the band’s guitarist Ricky Horror sings. MIW was relying on Chris regarding the singing and the screams until the fourth album. This changed when one day Ricky made an acoustic cover for Eternally Yours (Graveyard Shift album). Both the band and the fans were surprised by his angelic voice and from this point Chris started to involve him in the singing parts. We can hear his singing in Undead Ahead 2 (Disguise album) or in last year’s To The Grave. So as I wrote Ricky got the first segment which perfectly transforms the track from a vicious verse into a bittersweet melody. It is indeed needed because the chorus is an absolute ear catching piece of work so they complement each other wonderfully. In this part it’s Chris who takes up the singing but we don’t have to say goodbye for Ricky, due to him returning in the final refrain, building up the mood even higher before the closing. The other part of this song that is fantastic was the breakdowns, one in the half time and one in the end. It is a massive experience, pounding and grinding at the same time, It is what the experts call „chunky”. I hear similar works from ERRA so it was truly surprising, also I felt some As I Lay Dying vibes.
To sum it up, Timebomb is a great hit song, filled with interesting and refreshing elements. I recommend it for everyone who would like to get close with this genre and for those who are already familiar with it.

Lyrics:
Seconds are left on the countdown
Panic attack, the next normal in bloom
I let you go to get a grip on myself
But will you welcome me back as someone else?
All my life I’ve been a timebomb (now time is running out)
Juxtapose me with my past self (a doubt I can’t surmount)
It’s survival of the restless (survival of the restless)
So split the difference between us
Looking back on the things that I’ve done
I should have known that I’ve always had more than enough
If tonight I fall asleep for the last time
I want to be proud of the things that I’ve done right
If I could learn how to hold my head up
Maybe life wouldn’t seem like it’s passing me by
If I could give myself what I give to you
Then maybe I’d find strength to hold on to
Consumed by what I can’t undo
Here we go again
Beyond the barricade, rip the curtain away
And you’ll see the mess I’ve made
Beyond the barricade, rip the flesh away
And you’ll see it’s me you savedIf I could learn how to hold my head up
Maybe life wouldn’t seem like it’s passing me by
If I could give myself what I give to you
Then maybe I’d find strength to hold on to
If I could learn how to hold my head up
Maybe life wouldn’t seem like it’s passing me by
If I could give myself what I give to you
Then maybe I’d find faith to hold on to
Beyond the barricade, rip the flesh away
And you’ll see the mess I’ve made
Beyond the barricade, wash the fear away
And you’ll see it’s me you saved
Beyond the barricade, we wash the fear away
And you’ll see it’s me you saved
If I could learn how to hold my head up
Maybe life wouldn’t seem like it’s passing me by
If I could give myself what I give to you
Then maybe I’d find strength to hold on to
If I could learn how to hold my head up
Maybe life wouldn’t seem like it’s passing me by
If I could give myself what I give to you
Then maybe I’d find faith to hold on
Oh
